The Growth Booster in North-East India

The Role of STPI in the growth of the IT industry has been tremendous, especially in the case of start-up SMEs. STP scheme the catalyst The STP scheme is a 100 percent export-oriented scheme for the development and export of computer software, including export of professional services using communication links or physical media. This scheme is unique in its nature as it focuses on one product/sector, i.e. computer software. The scheme integrates the government concept of 100 percent Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and the concept of Science Parks/Technology Parks, as operating elsewhere in the world. The total exports from the STPI-registered units under STPI-Guwahati in FY 2022-23 touches Rs. 120.77 crore.

OctaNE, an internetworked group of 8 CoEs & SIZs at the 8 capital cities of North East including IoT in Agriculture CoE/SIZ at Guwahati, Emerging Tech (AR/VR) CoE/SIZ at Imphal, Gaming & Animation CoE/SIZ at Shillong, Data Analytics & AI CoE/SIZ at Agartala, IT Applications in Graphics Design CoE/SIZ at Kohima, IT Application in Healthcare & AgriTech CoE/SIZ at Gangtok, Gaming & Entertainment CoE/SIZ at Aizwal & GIS Applications (including Drone Technology) CoE/SIZ at Itanagar. STPI plans to foster 367 startups in 5 years in the areas of IoT in Agriculture, Emerging Tech (AR/VR), Gaming & Animation, Data Analytics & AI, IT Applications in Graphics Design, IT Application in Healthcare & AgriTech, Gaming & Entertainment & GIS Applications (including Drone Technology).

Octane

OctaNE has been incubating startups in new and emerging technologies in the areas of electronics and IT while providing a robust platform for startups, with single umbrella support services like mentorship services, seed capital assistance, marketing support (including IPR protection) etc. This CoE will create employment opportunities in new innovative startup units, develop a tinkering and innovation culture amongst students and professionals by establishing innovation zones for startups, and facilitate E-Commerce activities and applications.

Kohima Incubation Service

The establishment of STPI-Kohima centre is a joint effort of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India and Govt. of Nagaland. This is another step forward to facilitate and support IT/ITeS industry, tech MSMEs, startups, budding entrepreneurs, and innovators of the state. With 18,137 sq. ft. of built-up space, 2,484 sq. ft. raw incubation space and 114 plug-n-play seats, STPI-Kohima centre provides state-of-the-art incubation space, high-speed data communication facility and NOC.
